ABOUT US

About The Real Borneo

There are two Borneos. One has boardwalks, buses and visitor caps. The other still runs on river time.

We work on the second one. The Real Borneo is a wildlife tour operator at Tanjung Puting National Park in Central Kalimantan. What we sell is a wooden riverboat called a klotok, a crew who grew up on the water, and a few days on the Sekonyer looking for one of the last wild orangutan populations left anywhere. There are no roads in the park. You go by river or you don't go.

A new company. Not new people.

We registered in 2026. We'd rather put that at the top than have you find it at the bottom of a search result.

What's new is the name painted on the boat. Between us, the three founders have more than twenty years in business and about ten of those inside travel.

Anton

Operations

Anton

Anton is from here. He runs his own travel agency serving the domestic market. And the drivers, guides, captains and cooks we charter from now are the people he has good relationships with. Every itinerary we sell, he built, on the water, in the place it happens.

In Memoriam

In memory of our co-founder, Anton, who passed away on Monday, August 10th, 2026. His vision, dedication, and spirit laid the foundation of everything we do here at The Real Borneo, and he will forever remain a part of our journey.

Our Promise & Partnership with FNPF Jerumbun

In partnership with Friends of Nature, People and Forest (FNPF), we are proud to be one of the few operators visiting Jerumbun — a critical sanctuary and reforestation initiative protecting the boundaries of Tanjung Puting National Park. Deforestation and past fires left vital wildlife corridors fragmented. FNPF's reforestation efforts focus on planting native trees to rebuild continuous forest cover, giving wild orangutans, proboscis monkeys, and endemic wildlife room to roam free.

When you travel with us, you don't just observe the rainforest — you actively help restore it. On our Jerumbun expeditions, guests plant native saplings alongside local conservationists, directly contributing to long-term habitat rehabilitation. We guarantee strict wildlife ethics: respectful distance, zero touching or feeding outside ranger protocols, small group sizes, and total transparency about forest conditions.
